Emergency Financial Assistance

When an unexpected expense threatens your stability, a little help can make a meaningful difference.

ResourceWest provides limited assistance for certain one-time, short-term expenses that affect a household’s ability to maintain or regain stability.

Help with an unexpected expense

Depending on program guidelines and available funding, assistance may be available for transportation, employment-related costs associated with starting a new job, uninsured health expenses, or an unexpected barrier to continuing childcare.

  • Vehicle repairs needed to travel safely to work, school, or ongoing medical appointments — up to $750
  • Driver’s license, vehicle registration, or other required vehicle fees — up to $500
  • Employment costs associated with starting a new job — up to $500
  • Health expenses not covered by insurance — up to $500
  • Childcare costs when unexpected financial difficulties could interrupt a child’s care — up to $500

ResourceWest does not provide financial assistance for rent or utility payments, but our team may be able to connect you with other community resources for those needs.

Who Can Apply

Emergency Financial Assistance is available to eligible households living in Hopkins, Minnetonka, Deephaven, Excelsior, Greenwood, Shorewood, or Woodland.

Assistance is based on eligibility, program guidelines, available funding, and individual circumstances. Funding is limited and assistance is not guaranteed.

How It Works

Start by connecting with a ResourceWest staff member. We’ll talk with you about what happened, the assistance you are requesting, whether the expense meets current program guidelines, and other resources that may be available.
