Can you believe it’s February already? It feels as if we’ve jumped a month ahead, doesn’t it?
Thank you for taking the time to enjoy our monthly newsletter and learn more about our work. Each month, we will dig into our programs, one by one, and share them with you, Ally. Some of them you may know a ton about, while others may be new to you.
We think that it’s important to detail our programs and share our work with you. After all, your support is part of the reason that we can run these programs. Your generous support (whether financial, in-kind, or volunteering) allows our staff to work with community members who need ResourceWest to help them navigate tough situations.

Connecting people to resources is one of the many responsibilities of our social services staff. When community members reach out to Kirsten or Anab, many times they need to connect with the right organization that can help.
One example of this is food support. While ResourceWest doesn’t provide food assistance, a local nonprofit partner does. So, when someone reaches out to our staff and identifies food support as an area of need, Kirsten and Anab have the expertise to guide and connect them to the right resource.
This work connects ResourceWest to other partnering organizations – ICA, Reach & Restore, myHealth, MoveFwd, Prepare & Prosper, and many more. Kirsten and Anab have a whole network of organizations throughout the Twin Cities that they connect community members to.
This is a HUGE part of our staff’s work. Many times, people don’t know where to start when accessing support.
And that can be really scary.
Kirsten and Anab are there to not only get people connected to the right resources, but make sure that community members feel safe enough to ask for help.

From the Staff:
Anab, Case Manager
Hello! My name is Anab and I joined ResourceWest 6 months ago as a Case Manager. I recently came back from East Africa where I was working with an American organization that focused on humanitarian services.
In the few months I have been at ResourceWest, I quickly came to realize how the organization is centered in helping the people we serve find connection in the challenging situations they find themselves.
In my role, I provide our participants with the support that they need, through our social services, children and youth programs, having in-depth conversations, and referring them to resources in the community. I always look forward to meeting our participants because it involves helping others feel validated and establishing connections with community resources for needs such as housing, food, clothing, employment, and health and wellness.
Through our referral system, we are able to connect our participants for further assistance with other organizations such as ICA, Reach and Restore, Prepare & Prosper, and Hopkins and Minnetonka Schools just to name a few.
I look forward to continuing working with our participants to help them access the services they need to obtain stability and security!

Many community groups partner with us, supporting us in multiple ways. Volunteer groups, collection sites for Children & Youth Programs, financial donations, and providing platforms for us to share our information are just some of the ways these groups support us.
We’re incredibly grateful for these community groups, including the ones listed below:
- B.P.O Elks Lodge #2221
- Excelsior Noon Rotary
- Hopkins Women’s Club
- Glen Lake Optimists
- Chanhassen American Legion
- George R. Wolff VFW #425
With the valuable support from community groups like these, we can connect families and individuals to resources like food support, housing assistance, employment training, and much more.
