Impacting Our Community Together

July Newsletter Banner

Somehow, we’re already half-way through July. And even though school doesn’t start until the end of August, we are already in the midst of the Back to School Program!

Read more to see the impact this program has, how you can support this program (and our organization), and some new things going on at ResourceWest.

Since the beginning of this month, we’ve been working to collect school supplies for the Back to School Program. This program is one of the three Children & Youth Programs, and serves students who attend in the Hopkins or Minnetonka School Districts, or lives within our service area.

The Back to School Program equips students in our community with a backpack of grade-specific supplies so they can have a successful school year. This program also creates excitement for students, especially younger students, who are just starting their schooling.

Over the last few years, there has been an increased need for this program In 2020, 959 students received school supplies. In 2022, that number rose to 1,082.

As we’ve all seen and felt, the increased cost of nearly everything today is part of this issue. With increased costs of necessities like food, gas, and housing, families in our community are struggling to make ends meet.

The Back to School Program not only equips students for their school year, it also provides financial relief to families. Buying school supplies becomes one less thing that gets added to the to-do list.

Volunteers are incredibly valuable to this program. In 2022, volunteers donated over 190 hours of time to ensure that backpacks were packed and prepared for students to take them home. Without volunteers, this program would not make the impact it does.

From the Staff:

Ally Gall, Development and Communications Coordinator

Hello all!

My name is Ally Gall, and if this is your first time hearing from me, I'm the Development and Communications Coordinator at ResourceWest.

When I'm not working, I enjoy laying in my hammock, baking, and spending time with my friends and partner.

Most of my work is centered around finding ways to sustainably fund our work, and communicating with you and other supporters like you.

There's been a lot of new things going on at ResourceWest in the last month, especially concerning the ways you support us! We've updated our donation page (take a peak!) and started a new monthly giving program, Neighbors for Stability.

Neighbors for Stability is a passionate group who donate monthly and are dedicated to supporting ResourceWest's work and our community. We created a formal program around monthly giving so that we could connect better with and show our appreciation for those who give monthly. (There's more information about this program below, so keep reading!)

I'm happy to answer any questions that you may have about your donation, ResourceWest's funding, the emails we send you, and more. My email is ally@resourcewest.org and my phone number is 952-277-9341.
