Honoring our roots, shaping our tomorrow

May 2023 Newsletter Banner

With all the growth happening this spring, trees budding and flowers blooming, we thought it was fitting to look back on the growth of ResourceWest in our community.

ResourceWest Over the Years

Our mission, to support individuals and families in the West Metro through collaborative programs and connections to resources as they move toward greater stability, was born out of the idea to better serve our community.

What began as a collective effort to meet the needs of families, became the catalyst for who we are as an organization in 2023.

Rooted in the Hopkins Public Schools community, and what began as the Hopkins Area Family Resource Center, ResourceWest has since extended its supportive reach to surrounding areas that encompass a diverse array of connections and community members.

Through our work in the areas of Children and Youth and Social Service programming, we continue to strive toward new heights in seeking ways to establish partnerships with, and provide resources to, individuals and families who are facing challenges and overcoming barriers.

Hopkins Area Family Resource Center

In 2009, Hopkins Area Family Resource Center's name changed to ResourceWest.

Though we have experienced many transitions as an organization, the values of ResourceWest remain unchanged. As an organization focused on serving the community, it is our goal to continue to meet the needs of our community members with empathy and integrity.

As we reflect on where we’ve been and who we are today, we are eager to continue our journey as an organization. As needs evolve, so must our approach. And as we look to our future, we will not forget the 30 years of impact that we have already made in our community.

Thank you for partnering with us on this journey and sharing in the collective effort that has always driven, and will always inspire, ResourceWest. We could not do this work without each of you!

A Glance at 2022

ResourceWest served 4,350 community members through our programs in 2022. We helped to provide stability to individuals and families through our childcare tuition scholarships and financial grants for emergency needs such as vehicle repairs.

Last year, nearly $35,000 in childcare tuition scholarships, and over $29,000 in transportation grants to support vehicle repairs, were provided by ResourceWest to help community members bring stability to their homes.

Through our Children & Youth programs, we work to supply youth with school supplies, winter outerwear, and gifts. This past fall, 3,350 children and youth received support through these critical programs.

With the support of our community partners, volunteers, donors, and sponsors – our staff work to connect individuals and families to resources. As the need for support continues to rise in our community, we continue to pivot and work diligently in our efforts to further mitigate the impact of unforeseen costs and increased living expenses. When the needs of our community grow, so too does our support to match those needs.

From the Staff:

Tracie Stanton, Executive Director

Hello!

My name is Tracie Stanton and I am the Executive Director at ResourceWest. I have been fortunate to serve this incredible organization for nearly 4 years. Before becoming Executive Director, I worked as our Program and Community Engagement Coordinator for 2-1/2 years. I bring over 10 years of leadership and management experience in both the nonprofit and for-profit sectors to ResourceWest. My educational background is in Psychology, having studied at the University of Minnesota Duluth and Twin Cities.

In my time away from work, I enjoy relaxing with my husband and 4 children. My favorite way to spend a weekend is to enjoy time outdoors, yoga, reading, coffee with a friend, a good meal with family, and a new experience or favorite activity with my husband.

It is my commitment to serving others that led me to ResourceWest. This is an incredible organization with a strong mission and history. I enjoy being part of a nonprofit that is providing critical support and resources to community members in need. I am grateful for the opportunity to serve ResourceWest as Executive Director. I look forward to continued work to eliminate disparities within our community, as we serve our neighbors in impactful and innovative ways.

Tracie

Funding Updates

Thank you to our friends at Mizpah United Church of Christ in Hopkins for their incredibly generous gift of $75,000!

Their community has been a strong partner with ResourceWest over the years. Especially in support of the Children and Youth Programs.

This is a bittersweet gift as it comes to us from funds remaining after their faith community recently disbanded. We are grateful for their many years of care and support for our work, as well as the generosity of this impactful contribution.
