Our Approach

Since 1993, ResourceWest has been a crucial source of support for individuals and families in the West Metro, providing essential resources and stability during times of need. Originally established with the support of the City of Hopkins and the Hopkins School District, our reach expanded in 2003 when the City of Minnetonka and the Minnetonka School District joined the effort. To better reflect the breadth of the communities we serve, we became ResourceWest in 2009.

Today, we proudly serve diverse communities across Hopkins, Minnetonka, Excelsior, Deephaven, Greenwood, Shorewood, and Woodland. Our intentional, inclusive approach ensures that all voices are heard and supported. We employ a bilingual social worker fluent in English and Spanish and a case manager fluent in Somali and English, making our services accessible to a wide range of community members. Importantly, all services are provided free of charge to eliminate barriers for those in need.

When individuals and families turn to us, we listen. We seek to understand the challenges they face, provide immediate relief for urgent needs, and connect them with resources that help them move toward long-term stability. From addressing unemployment and transportation issues to overcoming barriers like language skills, affordable childcare, or lack of training, our case managers work side-by-side with community members to break down obstacles and create lasting change.

At ResourceWest, our impact goes beyond immediate assistance. We empower individuals and families to overcome crises, achieve their goals, and build brighter futures. Together, we’re strengthening the fabric of our community and creating a more equitable, stable future for everyone.

Commitment to our Mission

A message from Tracie Stanton, Executive Director

At ResourceWest, our dedication to our mission, values, and partnerships is unwavering, especially during these challenging times. We hold onto a profound truth: the future is still being shaped. This conviction inspires us to embrace bold opportunities, fostering a nurturing community where every neighbor can flourish.

Our vision is simple yet powerful, ensuring that every family in the West Metro community has the resources they need to live healthy, stable, and fulfilling lives. We deeply recognize and honor the shared humanity that connects us all.

That’s why ResourceWest is passionately committed to promoting economic stability, racial equity, and community well-being in every facet of our work. These core values are woven into our programs and partnerships, guiding us in how we support families through struggles and uplift them during moments of hope.

We are all in on our mission, utilizing every resource available to build a community where every neighbor has the chance to thrive. We go beyond words, acting by increasing support for local families and investing in programs that address immediate needs while laying the groundwork for sustainable, long-term solutions. In 2024, we proudly expanded our services to meet the rising demands, thanks to the incredible generosity of our supporters, allowing us to deliver more resources than ever before.

At this critical moment, organizations like ResourceWest are called to unite and make a significant, lasting difference in the lives of those we serve. Our compassionate, community-focused approach includes everything from emergency financial assistance and case management to meaningful collaborations with schools and local businesses that provide childcare scholarships, winter gear, and essential school supplies.

Our impact reinforces the immense importance of our unwavering commitment to our mission at ResourceWest.

Programming Growth

  • Over the past year, we have had the privilege of serving 2,000 families through direct services that not only stabilize households but also open doors to new opportunities.
  • We expanded our Childcare & Academic Assistance Program, offering vital scholarships that enable parents to work while their children receive the quality care and enrichment they deserve.
  • Through our Resource Navigation services, we’ve connected many neighbors to affordable housing, employment, and financial assistance, ensuring that more families can maintain stability in their homes.

Community Investment

We strengthened our partnerships with Hopkins and Minnetonka Public Schools, alongside local businesses and community organizations, creating a robust support network dedicated to the well-being of every community member. These partnerships extend far beyond emergency relief, striving for long-term stability and opportunities for all.

Operational Commitment

At ResourceWest, our operational practices are just as important as our mission. We prioritize dignity, respect, and sustainability, centering the voices of those we serve, fostering a sense of belonging within our programs and spaces, and continually seeking ways to better serve our community.

We are genuinely honored to walk alongside caregivers, educators, service providers, business owners, volunteers, and community leaders who make this work possible. Your courage, dedication, and belief in a brighter tomorrow inspire us each day.

Together, we remain wholeheartedly committed to collaborating with our community to create transformative solutions that support our neighbors today and build a foundation for a thriving future. Thank you for being an essential part of this journey with us.

Warmly,
Tracie Stanton
